I thought I’d leave you for a long weekend with a few of my favorite photography-related blogs. I’d rather do this from time to time than try to keep a blogroll, so expect more of these posts in the future as I dig into my feed reader.

Light Leaks Issue 11
I am excited to announce that I have a photo in the current issue of Light Leaks Magazine. Light Leaks is a venue for “low fidelity” photographers who use toy cameras, Polaroids, and alternative processes as part of their work. One of the photos from my “There are no straight lines in Brooklyn” series is reproduced in issue 11, the Polaroid issue, which is available now.

Schtock.com claimed to be the work of an enthusiastic amateur designer working at a major stock agency, anonymously posting interesting images from the agency’s archives on their personal blog. Photograph by Victoria Sambunaris
There is some wonderful landscape photography on the Women in Photography blog this week. Victoria Sambunaris travels prodigiously and makes expansive photographs of natural landscapes permeated with industrial artifacts. It’s a subject that’s been handled before, but not often done this well. One thing that immediately comes across is Ms. Sambunaris’ excellent use of color. The palette of these photographs is very subtle and controlled, and yet feels very natural at the same time.

I recently discovered tinytinygroupshow, an online exhibition of photographs curated by Kevin J. Miyazaki. The latest tinytinygroupshow, “Simultaneous”, is a series of photographs that were all taken at exactly 12:00 central time on August 17th.

Thanks to Rachel at Shoot The Blog, my humble website has seen a huge upswing in traffic over the last 24 hours. Aww shucks, I’m blushing.
If you’re new here, I’d love for you to stay and take a look around. If you’re just looking for some pictures, I’ve got a gallery of my favorite current work, as well as a link to all of the photographs I’ve posted to this blog, ever.

Jason Kottke links today to some statistics released by the Virginia Quarterly Review about the correlation between cliché in poetry and likelihood of publication. It turns out, contrary to their predictions, the connection is pretty strong.

Jake asked an interesting question the other day: how do people keep up with the constant flood of new work and ideas in the world of photography? Is there some sort of aggregator or meta-site that keeps track of such things?
