Justin James Reed reviews Westward the Course of Empire

Mark Ruwedel’s Westward the Course of Empire has been hovering near the top of my wishlist for quite a while now. Alas, my budget is limited, so I must tide myself over with reviews like Justin James Reed’s in the newest issue of Ahorn Magazine until I can afford my own copy.

One thing that’s missing from Justin’s review is an image of the cover. There’s nothing I like more than a nice tipped in cover. Oh book tease, how you tease me so.

    Argh, I know! I can't help it!

I've been looking at a lot of books lately because I am becoming more and more interested in making one of my own. These guys look like they do very good work: http://editiononebooks.com/

    Oh my.
I think perhaps I may have been happier when you only posted about books I could buy, and not books I could make, which cost umm, more. They do look pretty good though huh. So tempting.
Hey, by the by, I just started a photography class at Concordia University. My teacher is Jessica Auer and she's quite the landscape photographer, I think you might like her series Unmarked Sites: http://www.jessicaauer.com/ I'm super excited to be back in school for photography!

    Alexi,
Congratulations on going back to school! It is really great when you get a teacher who knows what they're doing and makes work that inspires you. (I haven't gotten enough of that, to be honest.)

You are right, I am quite interested in Jessica Auer's work. I will have to feature it on the site sometime. I will drop her a line.
