I love these desert images from photographer Allie Mount. I discovered Allie on Flickr a couple of weeks ago and was instantly smitten.

It's funny you mention Mount. I think I bumped into her work around the same time you did and it's impressed me too. She has a good description of her process here: http://cameraobscura.busdraghi.net/

Thanks for that link, Blake. I like the images she chose for that set and the story that goes along with it, too. I think every photographer can sympathize with the family patiently waiting while we take a picture, and then doing it again 5 miles down the road.

Allie's work feels nostalgic to me, partly because I grew up in this part of southern California and remember this landscape well. The Polaroid adds to the effect too, I think. But she does it without crossing the line into sweet and sentimental, which is very hard to do. These are strong, simple images, and I find them very compelling.

Thanks for this fine collection. Beautiful photographs. I'm drawn to these alot. There's integrity, immediacy and truthfulness in these photos that I find missing in many landscape photographs. Her web site has a nice selection.
