New Platinotypes

Stoney Run, Baltimore, 5x5 Platinotype

It’s been quiet on the blog, but I’ve been working hard on new photographs, including these four platinotypes. I’ve uploaded a new gallery to the current work section of the website specifically dedicated to this latest batch of prints. This series continues to evolve and get more interesting for me; I am about to head down into the darkroom and develop a roll of film right now.

My wife and I just bought a car this week. For the last few years, I have been relying mostly on public transportation to take pictures in the New York City area. The photo from Westchester above, for example: I took the number one train to Van Cortland Park (about an hour and a half from where I live) and then walked about five miles to Yonkers. Needless to say, on days I go out to photograph, I have time for very little else, and I’m often exhausted.

I drove out to the same spot in Westchester to shoot a bit today. Total travel time? Thirty minutes each way.
